Jamaica is turning attention to the Decathlon and Heptathlon
21 Jan 2005 - John Messam JAM (JMessam@portjam.com)

Kingston JAM - Over the last 17 years we have hosted the National Hurdles & Field Events Championships in Jamaica. It has served the country well. We are now turning our attention to the decathlon and heptathlon. We are extending invitations to the countries in the region to send athletes to participate in these events.

We are committed to providing ground transportation accommodation and meals for the duration of the athletes stay here in Jamaica. Additionally, we would encourage you to stay an additional week, take advantage of the training facilities here and participate in The Gibson Relays the following weekend. The relays offer additional competition in the hurdles, the long jump, the high jump, the 100 metre, 400 metre and the 1500 metres. The offer of accomodation, transportation and meals would of course be extended to include the additional week. The athletes need only get here.

Ideally, we are inviting decathletes in the 6000 - 7000 range and heptathletes in the 4000 - 5000 range. If you have athletes interested in participating please drop me a line. The meet is scheduled for February 18 - 19, 2005. I look forward to hearing from you.

Athletically yours

John Messam
